Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The drive motor generator battery control module will diagnose its own systems and determine when a fault condition is present. Diagnostics and system status is communicated from the drive motor generator battery control module to the drive motor generator control module through the communication circuit. The drive motor generator control module is the host controller for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information.
The drive motor generator battery control module has several methods of monitoring the total voltage values of the hybrid batteries. The drive motor generator battery control module monitors the calculated battery voltage and the terminal voltage. The calculated voltage represents the sum of the voltages from the 22 individual battery measurements, and the terminal voltage represents the total DC bus voltage as measured on the output side of the high voltage contactors. The drive motor generator battery control module compares these two voltage readings and looks for a difference. The drive motor generator battery control module also monitors the terminal voltage for both over voltage and under voltage conditions.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The ignition is ON.
* The 12 V battery voltage is 9-18 V.
* The HV contactors are closed.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
P0ABB
* Individual module volts = VALID
* The drive motor generator battery control module detects a 50 V difference between the hybrid battery pack voltage and the hybrid battery terminal voltage for 4 seconds.
P0ABC
The drive motor generator battery control module detects the hybrid battery pack voltage is less than 50 V for 1 second.
P0ABD
The drive motor generator battery control module detects the hybrid battery pack voltage is greater than 435 V for 1 second.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* DTCs P0ABB, P0ABC, and P0ABD are type B DTCs.
* The drive motor battery coolant fan is commanded to high speed.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTCs P0ABB, P0ABC, and P0ABD are type B DTCs.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, engine OFF, observe and record the scan tool Hybrid Battery Pack Calculated Volts and Hybrid Battery Terminal parameters. The readings should be between 198 V and 320 V, and should be within 50 V of each other.
Circuit/System Testing
Danger: Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:
* Identify how to disable high voltage.
* Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
* Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.
P0ABB
1. Verify that DTC P0ABC is not set.
• If DTC is set, refer to DTC P0ABC.
2. Ignition OFF, disable the high voltage at the drive motor generator battery. Refer to High Voltage Disabling (High Voltage Disabling).
3. Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the drive motor generator battery control module.
4. Connect the EL-48571 to the X2 harness connector.
5. Install the high voltage manual disconnect lever.
6. Insert the DMM probes into the EL-48571 test cavities. Measure and record the voltage of each battery by cycling the EL-48571 through each of the 22 switch positions. All voltages should be between 10-15 V and within 1.5 V of each other.
• If any of the voltage values are not within the specified range, replace the drive motor generator battery assembly.
7. If all circuits test normal, replace the drive motor generator battery control module.
P0ABC
1. Verify that DTCs P0C77 or P1A20 are not set.
• If any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions).
2. Ignition OFF, disable the high voltage at the drive motor generator battery. Refer to High Voltage Disabling (High Voltage Disabling).
3. Connect the 12 V battery.
4. Connect a DMM between the HV positive contactor terminals 2 and 5. Refer to drive motor generator disconnect module. Refer to Saturn Vue-Hybrid Battery Connections for terminal identification.
5. Ignition ON, engine OFF, with a scan tool, command the HV positive contactor closed. While the contactor is closed, test for less than 0.5 ohm.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the drive motor battery motor battery disconnect control module.
6. Connect a DMM between the HV negative contactor terminals 3 and 6. Refer to drive motor generator disconnect module. Refer to Saturn Vue-Hybrid Battery Connections for terminal identification.
7. Ignition ON, engine OFF, with a scan tool, command the HV negative contactor closed. While the contactor is closed, test for less than 0.5 ohm.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the drive motor battery motor battery disconnect control module.
8. Ignition OFF.
9. Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the drive motor generator battery control module.
10. Connect the EL-48571 to the X2 harness connector.
11. Install the high voltage manual disconnect lever.
