Odometer Trip/Reset Switch Inoperative

Circuit/System Description

The IPC calculates and stores the vehicle odometer based on the vehicle speed data from the ECM. When a new valid odometer information is received from the ECM, the IPC updates the odometer display in the DIC and stores the new reading in non volatile memory. The DIC displays the vehicle odometer information in either miles or kilometers.

The IPC is equipped with a trip/reset switch that is used to navigate the DIC vehicle information. The trip/reset switch is used to access the odometer, trip odometer A and B, outside air temperature, compass and hybrid indication status.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, verify the odometer trip/reset switch toggles between the various DIC displays which includes the odometer, trip odometer A and B when pressed.

If not, replace the IPC.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
