Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

Power Steering Pressure Switch.:

Power Steering Pressure Switch Wiring.:

DESCRIPTION
The power steering pressure switch is a normally closed switch. When power steering pressure is high, the switch will close. This signals the PCM that the engine load has been increased due to the power steering pump. If this increase in pressure occurs during idle the PCM will move the IAC valve to increase engine idle speed and will compensate for the added engine load.

LOCATION
The power steering pressure switch is mounted in-line with the power steering fluid line
