SUBJECT:
Information on Saturn Service Stall System - Remote Entry Device Shipment
TO: Saturn Fixed Operation Managers
All Service Stall Systems (SSS) shipped and installed before February, 1991 do not have the SSS Remote Entry Device (RED).
The Service Stall Systems Remote Entry Device is a radio frequency transmitter/receiver that allows the SSS user to utilize SSS diagnostic programs without using the SSS keyboard (example, from under the hood or from behind the wheel). This device has now received Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval for retail service use.
Beginning the week of March 18, 1991, all Saturn Service Facilities who were not installed with a Remote Entry Device, will receive a Remote Entry Device Installation Kit. The kit will include:
^ Remote Entry Device transmitter/receiver
^ Antenna
^ Installation and user documentation
About 20 kits per week will be shipped over a four week period.
The instructions are designed to allow the user to install the kit. Pilot installations by Saturn Retail technicians have shown the procedure to take about 10 minutes.
Please install the Saturn Service Stall Remote Entry Device upon receipt to take advantage of the user benefits. Any questions regarding the installation procedure, or the use of the Remote Entry Device, may be directed to the Saturn Retail Systems Customer Support Center, 1-800-7-SATURN, Prompter # 2 for Diagnostics.
