SUBJECT: Power Door Lock Actuators Chatter When Activated from Driver's Door Key Cylinder Switch (Recode Lock Cylinders)
MODELS
AFFECTED: All 1991 Saturns w/Power Door Locks
CONDITION: Power door lock actuators sometimes chatter after the driver's lock cylinder is used to lock or unlock the power door locks.
CAUSE: Key code allows key to be removed in the 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock position (Figure 1), causing the power door lock actuators to chatter.
CORRECTIVE
ACTION: Refer to chart to determine what the correct procedure is for correcting the condition.
PROCEDURE: To recode or repair lock cylinders, refer to "Keys and Locks" in the "General Information" section of the "Body/Collision Repair Service Manual." Refer to Figure 3 on the previous page for the correct replacement key codes.
To diagnose and repair power door lock circuitry, refer to the "Power Locks Electrical System" in either the "Doors" section of the "Body/Collision Repair Service Manual" (1991 edition) "Power Distribution Service Manual" (1991-1992 edition).
