Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
1. Turn ignition switch to ACC position and turn wiper switch to ``Intermittent 1'' position.
a. Wipers should immediately activate.
b. On ``Intermittent 1,'' the time interval between cycles (one cycle being one back-and-forth motion of the blades) should be two seconds.
c. On ``Intermittent 2,'' the interval should be seven seconds.
d. On ``Intermittent 3,'' the interval should be 12 seconds.
2. Start engine and put wiper switch on ``Low'' speed position. Wipers should immediately activate and speed should be 47 +/- 5 cycles per minute.
3. Put wiper switch on ``High'' speed position. Wipers should activate within one second and have a speed of 67 +/- 6 cycles per minute on a wet windshield.
4. Push down on the wiper switch to the ``Mist'' position. Wipers should cycle once as long as the switch is being held.
5. Pull wiper switch to ``Wash'' position. Washer pump and wipers should both activate within one second. Wipers should cycle twice and washer pump should remain on as long as the switch lever is being pulled into the position. The wipers will complete two cycles before parking after the wash is complete.
NOTE: Do not operate the washer pump without fluid in the reservoir.
6. With wipers on ``Low'' speed, crank engine. Wipers should stop moving and start again once the ignition is back in the RUN position.
