Troubleshooting Hints
HORN RELAY1. All junction block relays are interchangeable.
2. Substitute another relay from either junction block to see if the problem is fixed.
3. Repair/replace as needed.
4. Check coil resistance. Resistance should be 3 ohms +/- 1 ohm.
COLUMN SLIP RING
1. Check resistance through entire ring by measuring voltage at horn switch and rotating steering wheel.
2. Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
3. Repair as needed.
HORN SWITCH (CONTACT PLATES)
1. Check resistance through switch from the horn relay coil cavity in the underhood junction block. The switch resistance should be less than 1 ohm when the horn pad is depressed and open when the horn pad is not depressed.
2. Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
3. Repair as needed.
HORN
1. Check resistance through the horn. Horn resistance should be two to four ohms.
2. Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
3. Repair as needed.
