Owner Letter Involved

Dear Saturn Owner

Whenever you put as much into building something as we have into building Saturns, you want everything to be absolutely perfect - which is why we're writing.

We have just recently learned that some of the coolant we received from our supplier partner, Texaco Refining and Marketing Inc., was not properly formulated. This problem affects about 1100 Saturn owners. Unfortunately, this particular coolant mixture will cause components in the engine cooling system to degrade.

Just to help you understand the nature of the problem, the most likely symptom you may experience, in the immediate future, is a coolant leak and your engine may overheat.

Should this occur, please follow the recommended precautionary measures outlined in the "Problems on the Road" section of your Saturn Owner's Handbook.

As you will read below we are asking that you return your car to your Saturn Retailer since we have not yet determined the long term impact of the incorrect coolant mixture on the engine cooling system and related components.

Obviously, our goal is to make sure that you feel comfortable with the Saturn you're driving and that your ownership experience is the best it can be. With that goal in mind, we have decided to do the following:

What Saturn Will Do
^ Replace your present car with a new 1991 Saturn of equivalent value, at no charge to you.

^ If the Saturn you want is not readily, available, we'll loan you a car until your Saturn arrives - again, at no charge to you. (Obviously, there will be a priority on getting your replacement car.)

What You Should Do
^ Contact your Retailer to make arrangements to return your Saturn at your earliest possible convenience.

^ Work with your Retailer to arrange for a new replacement 1991 Saturn of equivalent value.

^ Take the enclosed Owner Reply Card with you so that your Retailer will be able to identify your Saturn.

^ If you no longer own the Saturn, please let us know by completing the postage paid Owner Reply Card and returning it to us.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience or unnecessary concern that this situation causes you. Naturally, we want to do whatever we can to make you completely satisfied with Saturn and your ownership experience.
