Antilock Braking System (ABS)
Antilock Telltale Circuit Shorted To B+:
Circuit Diagram:
ANTI LOCK TELLTALE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO B+
The antilock telltale should turn on for a bulb check when the ignition is turned to Run. Three seconds after the engine starts, if the ABS control module doesn't detect a fault, the telltale should turn off. The ABS control module turns the antilock telltale Off by providing a ground path for the antilock telltale circuit.
CODE PARAMETERS
Code 13 sets if:
^ Antilock telltale circuit is shorted to B+.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Since the antilock telltale works through a remote lamp driver in the I/P cluster, grounding the circuit from the cluster to the ABS control module should cause the telltale to turn Off. Opening the circuit will turn the telltale On.
When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem, use the Scan tool (select Malfunction History from Scan tool ABS menu) to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.
Intermittents or opens suspected to be at the connectors can be detected by using a diagnostic service probe. Voltage can be read on wires without disconnecting any connectors.
Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.
Code 13 will not set if a previous failure has already disabled ABS.
