Component Testing
I/P CLUSTERRefer to I/P cluster diagnosis section.
HEADLAMP SWITCH
Check switch resistances.
Pin A to Pin C in: Off Open
Door Open Open
Park Open
Headlamp Less than 1 ohm
High Beam Open
Pin B to Pin C in: Off Open
Door Open Open
Park Open
Headlamp Less than 1 ohm
High Beam Open
Pin E to Pin C in: Off Open
Door Open Open
Park Open
Headlamp Open
High Beam Less than 1 ohm
Pin F to Pin J in: All Positions Less than 1 ohm
Pin G to Pin C in: Off Open
Door Open Open
Park Open
Headlamp Open
High Beam Less than 1 ohm
Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
Repair as needed.
If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the SYMPTOM CHART.
HEADLAMPS
Visually inspect the headlamps. Check resistance through the lamp.
Check connections/terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair/replace as needed.
If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the SYMPTOM CHART.
HEADLAMP PIGTAIL AND CONNECTOR
Check resistance through the pigtail and connector.
Check connections/terminals for damage or corrosion.
If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the SYMPTOM CHART.
HEADLAMP DOOR CONTROL MODULE
Headlamp will not open/close.
1. Inspect hood, fender and all structure surrounding the retractable door and mechanism for jamming and interference.
2. Check battery for state of charge.
3. Inspect all electrical connections and terminals for tightness/corrosion/damage at headlamp door control module and headlamp door motors.
4. If one door motor is not working, cross connect motor to determine if motor is not working or headland control module output is not working.
5. Repair/replace as needed.
6. Check light switch operation and connections.
7. Operate motor by hand. Turn knob on top of motor. If output shaft does not turn replace motor.
8. If output shaft did turn inspect linkage for damage or foreign objects.
Repair/replace as needed.
If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the SYMPTOM CHART.
HEADLAMP DOOR MOTOR
Check for continuity through the motor.
Check connections/terminals for damage or corrosion.
Operate motor by hand. Turn knob on top of motor. If output shaft does not turn replace motor.
If output shaft did turn inspect linkage for damage or foreign objects.
Repair/replace as needed.
If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the SYMPTOM CHART.
