Circuit 238

LOCATION:
Connects passive restraint control module connector cavity D to driver's lap belt switch connector cavity A.

TYPE:
Black 22 gage wire.

Check the passive restraint telltale ground circuit for opens or shorts to ground. Unbuckle the driver side lap and shoulder belts. Turn the ignition to run with the cluster connector installed. The lamp should light for eight seconds and go off. If the lamp does not light, the circuit must be open, Passive Restraint Control Module (PRCM) must be bad, the switches failed open or the cluster is at fault. Jumper cluster connector cavity I to W. If the telltale light comes on, then the cluster is ok. If the lamp lights and stays lit, the circuit must be shorted to ground, or the PRCM must be bad. If the circuits are all good, refer to the Passive Restraints section of this manual to diagnose the belt switches.

REPAIRS:
Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.
