Component Tests and General Diagnostics

IGNITION SWITCH

1. Check switch resistances.
Switch resistance (Gray Connector):

Pin A to Pin C in: Lock Open
Off Open
Run Less than 1 ohm
Crank Less than 1 ohm

2. Repair as needed.
If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the Symptom Chart.


BACK UP SWITCH (AUTO TRANS ONLY)
1. This switch is integrated into the neutral start switch.
2. Check switch resistance.
Switch resistance: OPEN when PRNDL not in Reverse. Less than 1 ohm when PRNDL in Reverse

BACK UP SWITCH (MANUAL TRANS ONLY)
1. Check switch resistance.
Switch resistance: OPEN when transmission not in Reverse. Less than one ohm when transmission in Reverse

2. Repair as needed. If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the Symptom Chart.


BULB SOCKET
1. Check voltage through the bulb socket.
2. Check for damaged or corroded terminals or connectors. Check terminals for tightness.
3. Repair as needed. If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the Symptom Chart.
