Shift Linkage: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove air induction tube.
2. On models equipped with DOHC engine, remove air filter box, then lift resonator upward to disengage from service support bracket.
3. On all models, disconnect gear selector switch electrical connector.
4. Remove control lever shaft attaching nut, then remove manual lever, noting position.
5. Remove two selector switch to transaxle case attaching bolts, then remove.
Installation
1. Install switch to transaxle, then install switch to case attaching bolt and finger tighten.
2. Install manual lever to control shaft attaching nut, then tighten to specifications.
3. Adjust switch as follows:
a. Place transaxle in D4 position, then using a suitable ohmmeter check for continuity across selector switch terminals, if continuity is not indicated, rotate switch until continuity is present.
b. Tighten switch to case attaching bolts to specifications, then recheck for continuity.
4. Install cable to control lever, then adjust cable as outlined under SHIFT CABLE REPLACEMENT.
5. Connect switch electrical connector.
6. Install air induction tube and tighten attaching bolts to specifications.
