NO.: 92-T-11B

DATE: November, 1993

GROUP: Body

CORPORATION NO.: 281603R

SUBJECT:
Chattering or Binding of the Shoulder Belt Guide Track Unit (Lubricate Guide Track Unit)

Due to revisions in the affected model years, and to a revision in the part number under "CORRECTION" and in step 2, this bulletin supercedes bulletin 92-T-11A, which should be discarded.

MODELS AFFECTED:
1991 - 1994 Saturn's

CONDITION:
The slider, inside the shoulder belt guide track unit, makes a chattering noise or momentarily binds while moving.

CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by a need for lubricant in the track that the slider moves in.

CORRECTION:
The front shoulder belt guide track should be lubricated every 6 months or 10,000 km (6000 mi), or if the slider is making a chattering noise while moving. Apply a small amount of Passenger & Driver Shoulder Belt Guide Track Grease (P/N 21035456) or equivalent, where indicated in the procedure.

PROCEDURE:

1. With ignition key in the "ON" position, verify that the slider is in the "B" pillar position.

2. Apply Passenger & Driver shoulder Belt Guide Track Grease (P/N 21035456) or equivalent along entire rail surfaces of both cable and belt tracks. (Refer to illustration which shows a cross-section view of the front shoulder belt guide track.)

3. Turn ignition to the "ON" position.

4. Cycle motorized track by opening and closing the driver's door. Allow slider to travel the entire length of the track three times. Wipe off any excess lubricant.

5. Repeat this procedure for the passenger side shoulder belt guide track unit.
