TECHNICAL INFORMATION BULLETIN
SUBJECT:
Water Drips onto Front Seat with Door Open or Water Drips Down A-Pillar onto Carpet with Door Open (Seal Encapsulation and Drip Molding Joint)
Due to revisions in the affected model years, this bulletin supercedes bulletin 93-T-21, which should be discarded.
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991 - 1995 Saturns
CONDITION:
Customers may comment of water dripping onto front seat when door opens or down A-pillar onto carpeting with door open.
CAUSE:
Water leaking onto the front seat with the door open could be caused by water dripping in at the encapsulation and drip molding joint. Water leaking onto the carpeting with door open could be caused by water entering windshield encapsulation (outside of urethane seal at windshield) then running down A-pillar onto carpeting when door is opened.
CORRECTION:
For a water leak that drips water onto the front seat with the door open, seal drip molding joint from top side. If the water leaks down the A-pillar with the door open, seal encapsulation at windshield.
PROCEDURES:
Run an unrestricted flow of water over roof panel and allow it to run over drip molding to verify where water leak is located.
a. If water drips onto front seat, perform procedures in Section 1.
b. If water drips onto carpeting, perform procedures in Section 2.
c. If water drips onto front seat and carpeting, perform procedures in Sections 1 and 2.
