Temperature Sensor (Gauge): Description and Operation

The coolant temperature sensor (CTS) is a thermistor-type sensor. (A thermistor is a device that varies its resistance according to temperature. As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases.) This changing resistance value controls the temperature gauge in the instrument cluster.
