Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine coolant.
2. Remove air inlet tube/resonator assembly, then disconnect fresh air hose at cam cover, lift resonator upward to disengage from engine.
3. Remove PCV hose.
4. Connect tool No. SA9127E to fuel pressure, Fig. 5, when fuel line is disconnected wrap with suitable cloth before disconnecting.
5. Install fuel bleed hose to suitable container, then open valve to bleed system, once pressure is bleed. remove tool.
6. Remove fuel line bracket bolt, then using tool No. SA9157E or equivalent, disconnect fuel supply and return lines.
7. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body, then remove bracket attaching nuts.
8. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
a. Fuel injectors.
b. Idle air control (IAC).
c. Throttle position sensor (TPS).
d. Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
9. Disconnect heater and de-aeration hoses at intake manifold outlet.
10. Disconnect EGR solenoid vacuum hose.
11. Position electrical harness over brake master cylinder.
12. Remove intake manifold support bracket to block attaching bolt, then remove accessory drive belt.
13. Remove power steering pump attaching bolts, then position aside.
14. Remove upper intake manifold attaching nuts.
15. Raise and support vehicle, then remove lower power steering unit bracket.
16. Remove intake manifold bracket attaching bolt.
17. Disconnect canister purge relay and brake booster vacuum hose.
18. Remove lower intake manifold attaching nuts, then lower vehicle, remove manifold.

19. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten intake manifold attaching nuts to specifications in sequence, Fig. 7.
