SUBJECT:
Oil Filter Difficult to Remove or Install, or Oil Filter Fitting Remains in the Oil Filter When Oil Filter is Removed (Replace Oil Filter Fitting)

MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1994 Saturns

CONDITION:
Oil filter is difficult to remove, or oil filter fitting may unscrew from the engine block and remain seized inside the oil filter.

CAUSE:
Oil filter threads bind on oil filter fitting threads.

CORRECTION:
If the oil filter is difficult to remove or install from the engine, or the oil filter fitting remains inside the oil filter upon oil filter removal, replace the oil filter fitting with a new oil filter fitting (P/N 21000467) and torque to 30 Nm (22 lbs.ft.).

After repairs have been completed, check the engine for oil leaks.
