Dome Lamp: Description and Operation

The delayed dome lamp is available on uplevel vehicles (with uplevel chime module). The dome lamp switch assembly operates the same as the dome lamp switch assembly available in the base vehicle. The difference in operation is when the switch is placed in the doors position. If the driver's door is not one of the doors causing the dome lamp to be on, the dome lamp goes out as soon as all doors are closed. If the driver's door is one of the doors causing the dome lamp to be on, the dome lamp stays on for four seconds after the driver's door is closed, or until the last door is closed, whichever is longer. If all doors are closed and the ignition switch is turned to the ON position during the four second time-out, the dome lamp goes out immediately.
