Removal of Air Bag On-Off Switches
1. Follow steps 1-4 of the "Service Procedure for Installation of Air Bag On-Off Switches" in this bulletin.2. Remove connector position assurance devices from the two, yellow two-way connectors located near the base of the steering column and disconnect the connectors.
3. Follow steps 6-7 of the "Service Procedure for Installation of Air Bag On-Off Switches" in this bulletin.
4. Remove connector position assurance devices from the two, yellow two-way connectors from the passenger air bag and disconnect the connectors.
5. Follow steps 9-11 of the "Service Procedure for Installation of Air Bag On-Off Switches" in this bulletin.
6. Disconnect air bag Off display connector(s) to air bag On-Off switch(es).
7. For each air bag On-Off switch to be removed from the vehicle:
a. Cut the Pink wire(s) from the air bag On-Off switch(es) to the White wire(s) from the connector replacement pack
b. Tape ends of cut White wire(s).
8. Loosen defroster duct by removing screws and unsnapping duct from mode valve assembly. (The defroster duct should only be lifted enough to provide clearance to route the air bag On-Off switch wire harnesses.)
9. Remove air bag On-off switch(es) and wiring harness(es) from vehicle.
10. Remove air bag Off display assembly (or assemblies):
^ On vehicles without a sunroof, remove air bag Off display assembly (or assemblies) and wiring harness from headliner.
^ On vehicles with a sunroof, using a small screwdriver, remove sunroof bezel, air bag Off display assembly or (assemblies) and wiring harness. Then, reinstall sunroof bezel by snapping into place.
11. Remove wiring for the air bag Off display assembly (or assemblies). Wiring runs across the front of headliner, tucked between headliner and roof panel, and continues down right A-pillar to I/P compartment opening.
12. Remove ground wire ring terminal(s) from H-brace at blower motor ground. (One ground wire ring terminal for each air bag On-Off switch.)
13. Reinstall blower motor ground.
14. Install the right side A-pillar garnish molding.
15. Install the I/P compartment assembly.
16. Connect yellow two-way passenger air bag connector to yellow two-way vehicle wiring harness connector. Install connector position assurance (CPA) device.
17. Connect yellow two-way driver air bag connector, at base of steering column, to yellow two-way vehicle wiring harness connector. Install connector position assurance (CPA) device.
18. Connect negative battery cable.
19. Install AIR BAG fuse to I/P junction block (IPJB).
20. Refer to appropriate model year "SIR Service Manual" and perform "SIR Diagnostic System Check" to verify proper operation of the SIR system.
