NO.: 92-T-51DATE: November, 1992
GROUP: Engine
CORP.NO.: 288101
SUBJECT:
Service Information on Electrical Wiring Harness Design Changes
MODELS AFFECTED:
Some 1992 Saturns and all 1993 Saturn Sedans and Coupes
PURPOSE:
Three design changes have been made to electrical wiring harnesses as follows:
1. The connector position assurance (CPA) retainers have been eliminated from the connectors in interim model year 1992 and all 1993 models.
2. The connector position assurance (CPA) retainers have been eliminated from the connectors shortly after start of model year 1993 production.
3. The ground distribution system has changed for the rear body splice pack. The rear body splice packs on vehicles built before the change are connected to body ground at a weld stud in the left rear wheel well area (refer to Figure). Wiring diagrams for this configuration can be found in the "1991-1992 Electrical Power Distribution Service Manual."
Rear body splice packs on vehicles built after this change are connected to body ground at the rear package shelf (refer to Figure). Wiring diagrams for this configuration can be found in the "Electrical Distribution" section of the "1993 New Model Product Guide." This change was implemented on some 1992 models starting with and including VIN NZ156919. This change was fully implemented on all models starting with and including VIN NZ182094. The following systems utilize the rear body splice pack for ground:
^ Fuel Pump
^ Left Rear Stop/Tail Lamp
^ Center High Mounted Stop Lamp
^ Cargo Lamp
^ License Lamp
