Information on Outer Door Panel Fastener Change

MODELS AFFECTED:
1993 Saturns

PURPOSE:
A new fastening system has been instituted for attachment of the outer door panels-to-door structure. The new system utilizes a thread-locking compound on the bolt with a standard J-nut in place of a torque prevailing J-nut and bolt without a thread-locking compound.

Because of this new fastening system, a new service procedure is required to maintain proper torque. When installing an outer door panel, apply Loctite(R) 242 Threadlocker (Saturn P/N 21485277, or equivalent) to the bolt threads. Torque 8 N-m (71 in.lbs.).
