Engine Controls - Information Flag 84 When Flashing TCM
BULLETIN NO.: 93-T-28ISSUE DATE: December, 1993
GROUP/SEQ. NO.: Engine-05
CORPORATION NO.: 386002
SUBJECT:
Service Information on PCM/EC Information Flag 84
MODELS AFFECTED:
1993 and 1994 Saturns equipped with automatic transaxles
PURPOSE:
When resetting automatic transaxle adaptives or downloading a transaxle calibration using the Saturn service stall system (SSS), a PCM/EC information flag 84 may be set. PCM/EC information flag 84 indicates a communications fault between the PCM/EC and the PCM/EC. This is a normal condition when the above SSS service procedures are performed.
If a PCM/EC information flag 84 is set following the reset of transaxle adaptives or download of a transaxle calibration, reset the PCM/EC diagnostic trouble codes and information flags using either the portable diagnostic tool (PDT) or Saturn service stall system. If a PCM/EC information flag 84 is set without resetting adaptives or downloading a calibration, refer to the service procedure in the "Electronic Engine Controls Service Manual."
PCM information flags are intended to provide additional diagnostic information for technicians when diagnosing PCM diagnostic trouble codes or intermittent concerns and do not, by themselves, indicate a problem with the PCM or other component.
