Brake Transaxle Shift Interlock (BTSI)

PURPOSE
The brake transaxle shift interlock (BTSI) system prevents the driver from taking the shift selector lever out of P (Park), with the engine running, unless the brake pedal is depressed.

OPERATION
When the brake pedal is depressed, the brake switch completes the voltage circuit that operates the BTSI solenoid, which allows the shift selector to move out of PARK.

COMPONENTS
The components for the BTSI system consists of the brake switch and a BTSI solenoid which is incorporated into the park lock cable.
