Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Service and Repair
MAP Sensor Location. (TBI Engines):
REMOVAL
CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with a SIR system, disable the SIR system. SEE SERVICE PRECAUTIONS/ VEHICLE DAMAGE WARNINGS/ DISABLING-ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM.
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove attachment nuts and MAP sensor. Disconnect vacuum hose to MAP sensor.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from MAP sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Connect vacuum hose to MAP sensor.
NOTE: Port seal must be installed in manifold and not on the MAP sensor prior to installation of the MAP sensor. Make sure hoses are firmly seated. Check for vacuum leaks after assembly.
2. Connect electrical connector to the MAP sensor. Push in connector until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
3. Install MAP sensor and attachment bolts.
^ Torque: 6 Nm (53 in lbs)
4. Connect negative battery.
