Auto Trans ABS Telltale or Traction LED Fault

(Part 1 of 2) ABS Telltale Or Traction LED Fault:

(Part 2 of 2) ABS Telltale Or Traction LED Fault:

Circuit Diagram:

ABS TELLTALE OR TRACTION LED FAULT
The antilock telltale should turn On for a bulb check when the ignition is turned to RUN. Three seconds later, if the ABS control module doesn't detect a fault, the telltale should turn Off. The ABS control module turns the antilock telltale Off by providing a ground path for the antilock telltale circuit. The traction control LED is turned On when the ignition is turned to RUN, but it will go out after a few seconds if the engine is not running. If the engine is running, it will stay on until the traction switch is toggled or the traction system has been disabled due to a fault. The ABS control module turns the traction control LED On by providing a ground.

CODE PARAMETERS
Code 12 sets if:
^ The antilock telltale circuit is open, grounded or shorted to battery.

Traction control LED sets the code if:
^ Open, grounded, or short to battery.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
IMPORTANT: Since the Antilock telltale works through a remote lamp driver in the I/P cluster, grounding the circuit from the cluster to the ABS control module would cause the telltale to turn Off. Opening the circuit will turn the telltale On.

When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem, use the Scan tool (select Malfunction History from scan tool ABS menu) to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.

Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.
