Transmission Controls With PCM

Wiring Diagram:

NO TURBINE SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
DTC 35 indicates no turbine speed signal pulses are present on circuit 1230 at the PCM. Transaxle turbine shaft speed values are provided by the turbine speed sensor. The sensor is a permanent magnet (PM) generator mounted near the pressure filter on the transaxle case. The PM generator produces a pulsing voltage whenever turbine shaft speed is above 250 rpm. These pulses occur eight times per each turbine shaft revolution and are translated to provide turbine shaft speed in rpm.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC 35 is set when the PCM has detected the following conditions for more than two seconds.
^ Turbine speed is zero.
^ Vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h (6 mph) and engine speed greater than 980 rpm.
^ Engine speed greater than 3472 rpm.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbered steps below refer to numbered steps on chart.
1. This step verifies the problem is still present.
2. This test indicates if problem is PCM or a wiring/sensor problem.
3. A open, ground or a short to voltage in circuits 1230 or 1231 will cause DTC 35 to set. This step indicates which circuit is faulty.
4. An open or shorted sensor will set DTC 35. This test indicates if problem is a wiring problem or a faulty sensor.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem use the Scan tool* to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.

* Select MALE History from Scan tool Transmission Control Module (TCM) menu.

Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.
