SELECTOR SWITCH - NO DATA
The gear selected is determined by combinations of opens and grounds in circuits 771, 772, 773, and 776 at the selector switch. Each combination indicates a specific selection in the manual shift quadrant (P, R, N, D, 3, or 2). No data indicates that all four circuits are open at the same time.

CODE PARAMETERS
DTC 45 is set when the PCM has detected the following condition for longer than 500 milliseconds per ignition cycle.
^ All bits equal 12 volts; no switch circuits are pulled to ground.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbered steps below refer to steps on chart.
1. This test verifies the conditions for DTC 45 still exist.
2. A disconnected switch will set a DTC 45.
3. The metal body of the switch needs to be grounded to the transaxle case. Circuit 450 is a redundant ground connected to the engine ground.
4. This test verifies the PCM, connections, and wiring to the switch. If all circuits are open, DTC 45 will set. The PDT will display "OPEN" if all circuits are open, "GRDED" if all circuits are grounded, "INVALID" if an invalid bit pattern exists, or"P," "R," "N," "D," "3," or "2" if a valid bit pattern exists.
5. There should be 12 volts at each switch harness terminal from the PCM.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem use the Scan tool* to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.

* Select MALF History from Scan tool Transmission Control Module (TCM) menu.

Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.
^ This DTC will cause the transaxle to start-up in 2nd gear.
