Battery Positive Cable

Battery Positive Cable:





REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative and positive terminals from the battery.
2. Raise vehicle.
3. Remove 13 mm nut at starter motor solenoid and remove battery positive cable from stud.
4. Lower vehicle on hoist.
5. Remove cover from underhood junction block and remove bolt attaching battery positive cable assembly to underhood junction block.
6. Remove battery positive cable assembly from vehicle. Note routing of battery positive cable for installation of new battery positive cable.

INSTALLATION
1. Position battery positive cable assembly into vehicle.
2. Connect battery positive cable assembly to battery (negative battery cable should still be disconnected).
Torque: 17 Nm (151 in-Ibs)

NOTICE: Make sure the positive battery cable is correctly routed. Failure to correctly route the cable could cause it to rub through and short.

3. Connect battery positive cable assembly to underhood junction block and install bolt.
Torque: 5 Nm (44 in-Ibs)
4. Install underhood junction block cover.
5. Raise vehicle on hoist.
6. Connect battery positive cable assembly to starter motor solenoid and tighten.
Torque: 10 Nm (89 in-Ibs)

Battery Positive Cable:




7. Use feeler gages stacked to 2 mm (0.080 in.) to verify that distance between rubber insulator on battery positive cable and metal housing on starter motor solenoid is greater than 2 mm (0.080 in.) and less than 6 mm (0.240 in.).
Torque: 10 Nm (89 in-Ibs)
8. Lower vehicle on hoist.
9. Connect battery negative cable.
Torque: 17 Nm (151 in-Ibs)
