Recall 96V091000: VIN Plate Partially Obstructed

These vehicles were built with VIN plates that are partially obstructed by the instrument panel upper trim cover. This does not comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 115, "Vehicle Identification Number-Basic Requirements." SEE NOTE. SEE NOTE.

NOTE: The manufacturer's petition which requested that NHTSA determine this FMVSS non-compliance does not create an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety has been granted. Therefore, the manufacturer is not obligated to conduct an owner notification and remedy campaign.
