A/C - Counterclockwise Rotation, Compressor Clutch Drive
BULLETIN NO.: 96-T-01ISSUE DATE: January, 1996
GROUP/SEQ. NO.: HVAC-01
CORPORATION NO.: 681201
SUBJECT:
96-T Service Information on Counterclockwise Rotation of A/C Compressor Clutch Drive Plate
MODELS AFFECTED:
1996 Saturns built after and including VIN TZ445870 and any vehicle serviced with the R134a service compressor (P/N 21031196)
PURPOSE:
Internal changes have been made to A/C compressor built after the above mentioned VIN that allow the A/C system pressure to rotate the A/C compressor clutch drive plate in a counterclockwise rotation, after the A/C clutch is disengaged. This counterclockwise rotation is caused by the system pressure equalizing between the high side and low side after A/C clutch disengagement, and is considered normal.
Since the time for the high and low side system pressure to equalize is determined by temperature and pressure, the A/C clutch drive plate may rotate up to two minutes after A/C clutch disengagement.
