Converter Housing Assembly

1. Inspect all passages to be sure they are clean and open.
2. Press converter bearing into housing using SA9114T and install snap ring.
3. Install torque converter seal using SA9107T and install snap ring.

NOTICE: If the output shaft is not supported when the output shaft roller bearing is being pressed in, the housing may collapse.

4. If new output shaft roller bearing is being installed, install press fixture SA9129T with auto adapter pad 310084. Tighten center screw until auto adapter pad is snug against housing.

5. Press in the output shaft roller bearing into housing using SA9114T. The bearing must be flush or below converter housing surface. Use a straight edge and feeler gauge to make sure the bearing is not cocked in the bore. Check the bearing race at four points.
All points must be within 0.04 mm (0.0016 in.) of each other.
6. Install dowel pins if necessary. Use a bolt to pull pin into housing.

7. Place a clean magnet and retaining coil spring on a new filter and install. Remove old seal if still in pump housing, and install new filter and seal. (Refer to "Transaxle Pump Assembly/Measurement" procedure before installing pump.)
8. Install pump/filter assembly. Make sure all components are clean. Use care not to allow pump drive gear to scratch converter housing surface.
- Install pump bolts:
Seven bolts are 6 mm x 22 mm
Five bolts are 6 mm x 45 mm

IMPORTANT: Clean and lubricate fasteners with Transaxle Fluid. Wipe off excess fluid and install.

10. Torque bolts as shown in illustration.
- Torque: 12 N.m (106 inch lbs).
11. Install stator shaft and bolts, if removed.
- Torque: 30 N.m (22 ft lbs).

IMPORTANT: The stator shaft bolts are not washer head bolts.

12. Set stator shaft needle bearing into stator shaft and lube.
13. Clean threads and apply Loctite(R) 242 Threadlocker (P/N 21485277) or equivalent to bolts and install the park pawl assembly, using three bolts.
- Torque: 30 N.m (22 ft. lbs.).
14. Install the park lever actuator rod. The end with two tangs fits into the lever.
15. Install the pump-to-case O-ring seal.
