Shift Interlock: Description and Operation

The Brake Transaxle Shift Interlock (BTSI) system prevents the driver from taking the shift selector lever out of P (Park), with the engine running, unless the brake pedal is depressed.

The components for the BTSI consists of the brake switch and a BTSI solenoid which is incorporated into the shifter assembly.
