Keyless Entry/Security System - Service Information

BULLETIN NO.: 97-T-08

ISSUE DATE: March, 1997

GROUP/SEQ. NO.: Electrical-02

CORPORATION NO.: 788106

SUBJECT:
Service Information on Interim Revisions to Remote Keyless Entry/Saturn Security System (RKE/SSS) Battery Feed Circuit

MODELS AFFECTED:
1997 Saturns

PURPOSE:
On Vehicles built before and including the vehicle identification numbers (VINs) shown in the chart, the battery feed circuit for the remote keyless entry/Saturn security system (RKE/SSS) is the 10 Amp BODY fuse (circuit 340). On vehicles built after and including the VINs shown in the chart, the battery feed circuit for the RKE/SSS is the 10 Amp CHIME fuse (circuit 440).

Due to this change in the battery feed circuit for the RKE/SSS, the following changes have been made to the 68-way Gray body to instrument panel junction block (IPJB) connector.

^ On all vehicles, circuit 340R has been moved from cavity B8 to cavity A5. This changes the circuit from 340R to 440R.

^ On Wagons only, cavity A5 will also include circuit 440A for the cargo lamp.

The second edition of the 1997 Saturn Electrical Service Manual will have the updated schematics reflecting this change.

The 1997 Saturn Owner's Handbook will not be modified to show this change.
