Condition 4

Condition 4: Sunshade contacting rear drain channel in center.

Models affected:

^ 1997 Coupes built before and including VIN VZ358909

^ 1996-1998 Sedans

1. Remove headliner. (Refer to "Headliner" removal procedures in the "Vehicle Interior Systems" section of the appropriate year "Body/Repair Service Manual.")

2. Open sunroof to vent position.

3. Clean sunroof module with isopropyl alcohol, at locations where felt pads will be applied. (One felt pad is applied to rear top of each sunroof guide, one felt pad is applied to each side of the sunroof rear cross beam above where sunshade double stiffening ribs are located, and one felt pad is applied to the center of the rear cross beam. Refer to illustration.)

4. Apply felt pads, contained in Felt Pad Kit (P/N 21056020), to sunroof module at the following locations:

a. Slide sunroof sunshade to the closed position.

b. Remove backing from felt pad and place it on the end of a putty knife with adhesive side facing up.

c. From outside of vehicle, slide felt pad off putty knife onto center of double stiffening rib. Felt pad should be centered side-to-side on stiffening rib as shown in illustration.

d. Using the sunroof sunshade to position the felt pad to the sunroof rear cross beam:

^ From outside the vehicle, push down on sunroof sunshade. (It may also be necessary to pull up on the sunroof rear cross beam.)

^ Using your hand, slowly slide sunroof sunshade rearward until felt pad is centered under sunroof rear cross beam as shown in illustration.

^ Release sunroof sunshade and push up on sunroof sunshade at felt pad location, allowing the adhesive side of felt pad to become attached to sunroof rear cross beam.

e. Using the putty knife:

^ Carefully insert it between the sunroof sunshade and the felt pad.

^ Rub all four corners of felt pad to ensure proper adhesion.

5. Repeat step 4a through 4d in center and on opposite side of sunroof sunshade.

6. Apply one felt pad to the rear top side of each sunroof guide to prevent sunroof guides from rattling against the inner roof structure.

7. Install headliner. (Refer to "Headliner" installation procedures in the "Vehicle Interior Systems" section of the appropriate year "Body/Repair Service Manual.")
