Transaxle Pump Assembly/Measurement
1. Install pump driven gear with chamfered side down. Chamfer is on outer diameter of the gear.
2. Install pump drive gear.
3. Using a depth micrometer, measure pump housing face height to drive gear face and driven gear face height. If equipment is not available, place straight edge across pump face. Check drive gear face to straight edge clearance and check driven gear to straight edge clearance.
- Drive gear clearance:
Standard: 0.012 mm - 0.041 mm (0.0004 in. - 0.0016 in.).
- Driven gear clearance:
Standard: 0.012 mm - 0.041 mm (0.0004 in. - 0.0016 in.).
4. Measure driven gear-to-pump housing clearance.
- Clearance: Standard: 0.064 mm - 0.139 mm (0.0025 in. - 0.0055 in.).
5. Measure driven gear-to-crescent clearance.
- Clearance:
Standard: 0.191 mm - 0.341 mm (0.0075 in. - 0.0134 in.).
6. Measure drive gear-to-crescent clearance.
- Clearance:
Standard: 0.128 mm - 0.278 mm (0.0050 in. - 0.0109 in.).
7. Press in pump dowel pins if necessary.
8. Clean and install lube relief valve, spring, and retainer.
9. Install pump wear plate. Make sure surface is clean.
