Test 1 - Preliminary Checks

1. Check for powertrain control module (PCM) Information Flag 16 (EVO Fault). Should this flag be present, refer to the Electronic Engine Controls Service Manual for PCM Flag 16 diagnosis.
2. Check for PCM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 24 or PCM Transaxle Code 41 (Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit - No Signal). A fault in wither of these circuits will cause the EVO system to malfunction. Should these codes be present, refer to the Electronic Engine Controls Service Manual for the appropriate code diagnosis.
3. Check power steering fluid level.
4. Check accessory drive belt for slippage.
5. Check that electrical connections on the EVO actuator are tight and clean.
