Removal
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE OPPOSITE END OF THE VEHICLE THAT COMPONENTS WILL BE REMOVED FROM.1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove wheel and tire.
3. Remove and discard outer tie rod end cotter pin.
4. Remove tie rod end-to-knuckle castle nut.
5. Loosen outer tie rod-to-inner tie rod jam nut.
6. Using SA911100C (or equivalent), separate outer tie rod from steering knuckle.
NOTICE: Do not attempt to separate the joint using a wedge-type tool because the seal may be damaged.
7. Unthread outer tie rod from inner tie rod and remove from vehicle.
