Differential Assembly

1. Press differential ball bearings onto differential case using SA9120T. Check to make sure bearings are seated.

IMPORTANT: The bearing on the right side (the vehicle speed sensor side) of the differential has a black colored cage. (Service bearings, however, will all be interchangeable and have a black cage.)

2. Roll up the differential thrust liner and insert into the differential case. Position the liner inside the case so that the side gear section with alignment tabs sets into the pocket on the ring gear side of the case.
3. Place the side gears into position in the housing and hold in position.
4. Install the pinion on the tabbed side of the thrust liner and then pull the thrust liner partially over the pinion gear to hold it in place.
5. Place the second pinion into position, directly opposite the first pinion and rotate the thrust liner until the pinion shaft hole in the cover and the pinions line up.
6. Rotate the pinions and thrust liner into the housing together until they line up with the pinion shaft bore in housing. Check that the side gears are in the proper location.
7. Install pinion shaft and new roll pin. Be sure to drive roll pin flush with case to prevent interference with speed sensor signal.
