Input Shaft Clearance Measurement
1. Remove input shaft bearing from case. (Refer to "Bearing Removal.")
2. Install case bearing on shaft.
3. Install 1st drive gear to case bearing thrust washer.
4. Install first gear into 1st gear clutch assembly. Twist the gear to align the clutch tangs.
5. Install 1st clutch assembly previously assembled.
6. Use old nut and torque.
- Torque: 150 N.m (111 ft. lbs.).
IMPORTANT: To aid in holding input shaft, use input shaft holding tool SA9119T in a vise.
7. Use feeler gauge to measure clearance between 1st drive gear and input shaft bearing.
- Clearance: Standard: 0.075 mm-0.425 mm (0.003 in. - 0.017 in.).
8. Measure clearance between 2nd/Reverse drive gear and 2nd/Reverse thrust bearing.
- Clearance: Standard: 0.032 mm-0.144 mm (0.001 in. - 0.006 in.).
9. Measure clearance between 4th drive gear and 3/4 drive gear thrust bearing.
- Clearance: Standard: 0.057 mm - 0.219 mm (0.002 in. - 0.009 in.).
10. Remove input shaft clamp nut, 1st clutch assembly. Thrust washer and input shaft ball bearing.
