Lock Cylinder Assembly Procedures

Ignition Lock Cylinder Assembly





1. Insert ignition key into ignition lock cylinder.

2. Install ignition lock cylinder into ignition lock cylinder housing.





3. Rotate ignition lock cylinder and install ignition lock pin spring and ignition lock cylinder pin.

4. Remove ignition key and install ignition and start switch bezel to ignition lock cylinder assembly.

5. Verify that ignition lock cylinder operates correctly.

a. Insert ignition key into ignition lock cylinder.

b. Turn ignition key to the RUN position.

c. With ignition key in RUN position, pull on ignition key using the same force that would be used to remove the ignition key while in the LOCK position.

^ If ignition key cannot be removed entirely from ignition lock cylinder, proceed to step 6.

^ If ignition key can be removed entirely from the ignition lock cylinder, check ignition lock cylinder and correctly code the lock cylinder. If ignition lock cylinder was coded incorrectly, check coding on the front side door lock cylinder, and the rear compartment or liftgate lock cylinder.

IMPORTANT:
The ignition key may have some movement. However, this is normal, and it is operating correctly as long as the key cannot be removed entirely from the ignition cylinder.

6. To install ignition lock cylinder assembly, refer to "Ignition Lock Cylinder Installation - All Vehicles" in "Lock Cylinder Installation Procedures" included in this bulletin.

Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Assembly - All Vehicles





1. If removed, install front side door lock cylinder pawl into slot in housing.

2. Insert front side door key into front side door lock cylinder.

3. Insert front door lock cylinder into front door lock cylinder housing and turn the front side door key a quarter turn counterclockwise.

4. Remove front side door key from front side door lock cylinder.





5. Install front side door lock cylinder shutter springs and front side door lock cylinder shutter to front side door lock cylinder.

6. Install front side door lock cylinder cap on to front side door lock cylinder.

7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for remaining front side door lock cylinder.

8. To install front side door lock cylinders, refer to "Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Installation - Driver and Passenger Doors - All Vehicles" in "Lock Cylinder Installation Procedures" included in this bulletin.

Liftgate and Rear Compartment Lock Cylinder Assembly





1. Insert key into lock cylinder and slide lock cylinder into lock cylinder housing.





2. If necessary, install lock cylinder shutter springs.

3. Install lock cylinder cap shutter to lock cylinder housing.





4. Slide lock cylinder spring on to lock cylinder and hook to lock cylinder housing.

5. Install lock cylinder pawl and secure with lock cylinder clip.

6. To install liftgate or rear compartment lock cylinders, refer to "Liftgate Lock Cylinder Installation - Wagon" or "Rear Compartment Lock Cylinder Installation - Sedans/Coupes" in "Lock Cylinder Installation Procedures" included in this bulletin.
