Intermediate Shaft Cover - Installation





1. Slide replacement cover over intermediate shaft.
2. Install cover-to-body fasteners.
- Torque: 10 Nm (89 lb in)
3. Position intermediate shaft onto pinion.





4. Install intermediate shaft/pinion pinch bolt.
- Torque: 47 Nm (35 lb ft)

IMPORTANT: Use Loctite(r) 242 Threadlocker (or equivalent) on thread of pinch bolt.

5. Slide cover over intermediate shaft.
6. Attach cover securely to steering gear.





7. Install left side splash shield.

IMPORTANT: Install rear section of shield first, then front

8. Install tabs in body cut-out.
9. Align molded-in shield fasteners with holes in cradle. Push straight in to install.
10. Install push pins.

IMPORTANT: Make sure shield flaps are tucked in at body locations.

NOTICE: Before installing wheels remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel lug nuts to loosen in service.

11. Position wheel onto hub.
12. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening pattern to make sure torque is correct.
13. Lower vehicle from hoist.
- Torque: 140 Nm (103 lb ft)
