Lock Cylinder Installation Procedures

Front Side Door Lock Cylinder Installation - Driver and Passenger Doors - All Vehicles





1. Connect front side door lock cylinder rod to front side door lock cylinder.

2. Install front side door lock cylinder to door and install front side door lock cylinder retainer.

3. Install, partially removed door sound deadener panel at rear of door.

4. Verify that front side door lock cylinder operates correctly.

5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for remaining front side door lock cylinder.

6. Install front door outer panel. (Refer to "Front Door Outer Panel - Sedan/Wagon," or Front Door Outer Panel - Coupe" in the "Doors" section of the "1997 Body/Repair Service Manual.")

Liftgate Lock Cylinder Installation - Wagon





1. Install liftgate lock cylinder into into liftgate.

2. Install liftgate lock cylinder reinforcement and install liftgate lock cylinder retainer.

3. Connect liftgate lock actuator cable assembly to liftgate lock cylinder.

4. Verify that liftgate lock cylinder operates correctly.

5. Install liftgate lower molding assembly. (Refer to "Liftgate Inner Lower Panel Assembly - Wagon" in the "Vehicle Interior Systems" section of the "1997 Body/Repair Service Manual.")

Rear Compartment Lock Cylinder Installation - Sedans/Coupes





1. Connect rear compartment lock cylinder rod to clip on rear compartment lock cylinder.

2. Install rear compartment lock cylinder to rear compartment lid.

3. Install rear compartment lid lock cylinder retainer to rear compartment lock cylinder.

4. Verify that rear compartment lock cylinder operates correctly.

5. Install rear compartment lid outer lower panel. (Refer to "Compartment Lid Outer Panel" procedure for Sedan or "Rear Compartment Lid Outer Panel" for Coupe, in the "Rear End" section of the "1997 Body/Repair Service Manual.")

Ignition Lock Cylinder Installation - All Vehicles





IMPORTANT:
Ignition lock cylinder actuator blade within ignition lock cylinder module must be in the ACC position to install ignition lock cylinder assembly. If rotated, align ignition lock cylinder actuator blade with step as shown in illustration.





1. With ignition lock cylinder module in ACC position, slide ignition lock cylinder assembly into ignition lock cylinder module.

IMPORTANT:
Make sure square locking button locks into opening in ignition lock cylinder module.

2. Verify that the ignition lock cylinder operates correctly.





3. Install upper steering column shroud.

4. Install steering column lower trim cover bolts.

Torque: 3 N.m (26 in-lbs)

5. Affix Campaign Completion Label to radiator core support.

6. Enter new key code in the "Customer Service Order" (CSO).
