BULLETIN NO.: 98-T-34ISSUE DATE: September, 1998
GROUP/SEQ. NO.: Body-9
CORPORATION NO.: 881608
SUBJECT:
Sunshade Rattles Against Spaceframe When in Full Open Position (Add Felt to Spaceframe).
MODELS AFFECTED:
1997 Saturn Coupes built after VZ355553 and all 1998-1999 Coupes.
CONDITION:
Sunshade rattles against spaceframe when in full open position.
CAUSE:
Rear of sunshade contacts spaceframe when sunshade is in the full open position.
CORRECTION:
Add two felt strips to spaceframe.
IMPORTANT:
Rattle is apparent only when driving vehicle with the sunshade in the full open position. Rattle will completely disappear when sunshade is pulled slightly forward. Do not use this procedure if rattle is not apparent with sunshade in any position other than the full open position.
PROCEDURE:
1. Remove headliner from vehicle. (Refer to "Headliner" removal procedure in the "Vehicle Interior Systems" section of the appropriate year "Body/Repair Service manual.")
2. Using 21056020 Insulator Kit - Sun RF, place the two larger adhesive felt strips on both sides of the spaceframe rear header where the sunshade contacts the header. (This contact will be made near the outer edges of the rear of the sunshade.)
3. Verify that rattle is gone when the sunshade is in the full open position. If rattle is still present, then refer to Technical Information Bulletin 97-T-25A for further sunroof rattle procedures.
4. Install headliner. (Refer to "Headliner" installation procedure in the "Vehicle Interior Systems" section of the appropriate year "Body/Repair Service manual.")
