Rear Wheel Hub - Disc Brake
REAR HUB/BEARINGREMOVAL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE OPPOSITE END OF THE VEHICLE THAT COMPONENTS WILL BE REMOVED FROM.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove road wheel from the hub being replaced.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from ABS wheel speed sensor.
4. Remove two caliper-to-knuckle mounting bolts.
5. Suspend (using wire) the caliper assembly by the strut spring, clear of the knuckle.
6. Remove rotor from hub.
7. Remove four hub-to-knuckle bolts.
8. Remove hub.
INSTALLATION
1. Join hub, brake backing plate, and knuckle with four fasteners. Torque to specification.
Torque: 85 Nm (63 lb ft)
2. Install brake rotor.
3. Install caliper onto knuckle and secure with two fasteners.
Torque: 85 Nm (63 lb ft)
4. Connect electrical connector to ABS wheel speed sensor.
NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel nuts to loosen in service.
5. Position wheel onto hub.
6. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening pattern to make sure torque is correct.
Torque: 140 Nm (103 lb ft)
7. Lower vehicle from hoist.
