Removal





1. Disable the SIR System. (Refer to "Disabling the SIR System".)
2. Turn ignition to Off.
3. Remove console. (Refer to "Console Removal" procedure.)
4. Using a screwdriver disconnect control cable from control base assembly lever.
5. Depress two tabs on control cable assembly and remove.





6. Disconnect park lock cable assembly from control base assembly.
7. Depress the two tabs on the end fitting of park lock cable assembly and remove from control base assembly.

IMPORTANT: For step 8, Left-Hand Drive (LHD) illustration shown first, Right-Hand Drive (RHD) Domestic illustration shown second.








8. Disconnect Brake Transaxle Shift Interlock (BTSI) connector (LHD shown, RHD follows).

9. Remove control indicator assembly (PRND32) bulb.
10. Disconnect two wiring harness retainers from control base assembly.





11. Remove three control base assembly to floorpan nuts and remove assembly.





12. With control base assembly out of vehicle, use a screwdriver to disconnect the BTSI solenoid plastic retainers and remove BTSI solenoid from control base assembly.
13. Using a screwdriver, remove control lever knob assembly retainer. Remove control lever knob assembly.





14. Using a 4.75 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit, drill out two control indicator assembly (PRND32) rivets attaching control indicator assembly to control shift assembly.
15. Remove control indicator assembly (PRND32) from control base assembly and remove old rivets.
16. Remove control tube.
