Front Cover and Oil Pump Assembly Replacement (In-Vehicle)

- J-38122 Crankshaft Pulley Holder
- SA9105E Engine Support Fixture
- J-43405 Engine Support Fixture Adapter
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly. (Refer to "Air Cleaner Assembly Removal".)
CAUTION: ENSURE THAT VEHICLE IS SECURELY SUPPORTED BEFORE LIFTING ON A HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR VEHICLE ON OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. ENSURE THAT THE HOIST DOES NOT CONTACT FUEL OR BRAKE LINES.
3. Jack vehicle or raise on a hoist.
4. Drain engine oil.
5. Remove right wheel and splash shield.
6. Remove engine accessory drive belt.
7. Install J-38122 crankshaft holder.
IMPORTANT: The crankshaft damper pulley bolt head and washer assembly prevents oil leakage at center of pulley. Do not damage sealing surfaces. If pulley cannot be removed by pulling with hand use a three jaw puller.
8. Remove crankshaft damper pulley and discard bolt.
IMPORTANT: Do not pry against cover.
9. Remove belt tensioner.
10. Install SA9105E engine support fixture and J-43405 engine support fixture adapter respectively.
11. Remove right engine mount. (Refer to "Right Engine Mount and Bracket Removal".)
12. Remove front cover assembly and gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. Install new front cover gasket and cover assembly.
2. Install front cover bolts.
- Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
3. Install right side engine mount. (Refer to "Right Engine Mount and Bracket Installation".)
4. Remove SA9105E engine support fixture and J-43405 engine support fixture adapter respectively.
5. Install drive belt tensioner.
- Torque: 50 Nm (36 ft. lbs.)
6. Install crankshaft damper pulley.
a. Lubricate front seal and sealing surface of damper pulley with clean motor oil.
b. Install damper onto crankshaft indexing keyway; use care to properly align flats on damper with flats on oil pump drive.
7. Install J-38122 crankshaft pulley holder.
8. Install damper pulley bolt washer.
- Torque: 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.) + 75 degrees
9. Install engine accessory drive belt.
10. Install right wheel and splash shield.
11. Add engine oil.
12. Install air cleaner assembly. (Refer to "Air Cleaner Assembly Removal".)
13. Connect negative battery cable.
