Fuel Tank Installation





1. With aid of assistant, position fuel tank back into place on underbody.

2. Reposition fuel tank mounting straps around fuel tank and fuel tank heat shield and install strap mounting bolts.

Torque: 20 Nm (15 ft-lbs)

3. Install fuel lines into retainer oil front of fuel tank.





CAUTION:
THE FUEL TANK HEAT SHIELD HAS SHARP METAL EDGES. CARE MUST BE USED WHEN WORKING AROUND FUEL TANK HEAT SHIELD TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY.

4. Install parking brake cables to underbody hooks at front of fuel tank.





5. Install two rearmost chassis fuel bundle retainers to underbody studs. Push the retainers onto underbody studs and tighten retainer screws.

Torque: 10 Nm (89 in-lbs)





6. Install exhaust heat shield.

Torque: 4 Nm (35 in-lbs)

7. Install rubber exhaust pipe isolators.





8. Install fuel tank bracket (fuel line stone chip guard).

Torque: 10 Nm (89 in-lbs)





9. Install plastic fuel tank grounding strap attachment nut to stud located near fuel filter.

Torque: 4.5 Nm (40 in-lbs)

10. Install rear heat shield and retaining bolts.

Torque: 7 Nm (62 in-lbs)





11. Install exhaust system intermediate pipe (with muffler).

Torque: 20 Nm (15 ft-lbs)

12. Lower vehicle.

13. Add fuel to fuel tank.

14. Connect negative battery cable.

Torque: 17 Nm (13 ft-lbs)

15. Prime fuel system.

a. Using ignition, cycle switch On for 5 seconds and then Off for 10 seconds. Repeat this twice.

b. Examine fuel lines for leaks.

c. Crank engine until it starts (allowing a maximum of 15 seconds of cranking time).

16. Affix Campaign Completion Label on a clean and dry surface of radiator core support, in an area clearly visible when hood is raised. (For more information, refer to "Campaign Completion Label" in this bulletin.)
