Left Transaxle Mount and Bracket

- TOOLS REQUIRED
- SA915OE Engine Support Fixture
- J43405 Engine Support Fixture Adapter

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect negative and then positive battery cables.
2. Remove fan control relay by sliding up and off bracket. Lay module and wiring out of the way.
3. Remove battery hold down fastener and battery hold down.
4. Remove battery and place in a safe area.





5. Remove under hood fuse block.
6. Disconnect battery feed to fuse block.
7. Disconnect coolant hose from fuse block.
8. Push on tabs at the end of the fuse block and lift off cover.
9. Push in tabs (2) on the end of the fuse block case and roll back the fuse block. (1)





10. Remove connectors.
(1) Engine 68 Way
(2) Forward Lamp 68-Way
(3) I/P 68-Way
(4) Forward Lamp 2-Way (White)
(5) I/P 2-Way (Black)
(6) I/P 2-Way (Green)
(7) I/P 2-Way (Brown)
11. Lift fuse block off the case.
12. Remove routed harnesses. (Engine, Forward Lamp and I/P.)

(c) Instrument Panel (I/P)

IMPORTANT: There are two tabs that hold the hard shell grommets in place at the bottom of the grommet. Disengage these tabs and slide grommet off.





13. Remove bolt on the bottom of the fuse block case and lift case off the battery tray.





14. Remove battery tray.





15. Install engine support fixture SA9150E (or equivalent). (L61 engine)





16. Install engine support fixture SA9150E (or equivalent). (L81 engine)





17. Remove transaxle mount to bracket bolts.





18. Remove transaxle mount to body fasteners.
19. Remove transaxle mount from vehicle.





20. On vehicles with automatic transaxle and L81 engines, remove power steering lines from transaxle mount bracket.

IMPORTANT: The automatic and manual transaxle mount brackets are different. The following two steps show each.





21. Remove transaxle mount bracket to transaxle fasteners. (Automatic)





22. Remove transaxle mount bracket to transaxle fasteners. (Manual)

DISASSEMBLY





1. Remove bracket from transaxle mount.

ASSEMBLY

1. Install bracket onto transaxle mount and tighten.
Torque: 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: The automatic and manual transaxle have different transaxle mount brackets. The following two steps show each.





1. Install transaxle mount bracket to transaxle. (Automatic)
Torque: 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.)





2. Install transaxle mount bracket to transaxle. (Manual)
Torque: 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.)





3. On vehicles with automatic transaxle and L81 engines, connect power steering lines to transaxle mount bracket.
Torque: 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)





4. Install transaxle mount into vehicle and install mount to body bolts.
Torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)





5. Install transaxle mount to bracket bolts
Torque: 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.)
6. Remove engine support fixture.





7. Install battery tray.
Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)





8. Install under hood fuse block.
9. Place fuse block case on battery tray.
10. Line the case up using locator tabs.
11. Install bolt in the bottom of the fuse block case.
Torque: 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.)
12. Route engine harness into the fuse block case. Push grommet until tabs catch.(3)
13. Re-hinge fuse block-to-case.(1)
14. Route I/P and forward lamp harnesses into fuse block case making sure tabs catch.(3)





15. Connect connectors to fuse block.
(1) Engine 68-Way
(2) Forward Lamp 68-Way
(3) I/P 68-Way





(4) Forward Lamp 2-Way (White)
(5) I/P 2-Way (Black)
(6) I/P 2-Way (Green)
(7) I/P 2-Way (Brown)





16. Close fuse block and latch.(2)
17. Replace fuse block cover and latch.(2)
18. Snap engine cooling hose back in place on the cover.
19. Hook up battery feed to fuse block.
Torque: 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)
20. Place battery feed cover over battery feed terminal.
21. Install battery into vehicle.
22. Install battery hold down.
Torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
23. Install fan control module by sliding down onto bracket.
24. Connect positive and then negative battery cable.
Torque: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
