Wiper Motor and Bushing Replacement

REMOVAL




1. Remove wiper arm finish caps.
2. Mark both wiper arm positions on windshield by using a wax pencil or tape.
3. Remove wiper arm retaining nuts and washers.
4. Remove wiper arms.




5. Remove weatherstrip at rear of hood.




6. Remove grill nuts from base of wiper arm shaft.
7. Remove grill.




8. Remove electrical connector from wiper motor.
9. Remove wiper motor retaining bolts.
10. Remove wiper motor assembly from plenum area.
11. If replacing wiper module bushings, remove steel bushing first, then rubber grommet.




12. Remove motor from transmission assembly.
13. Replace as necessary.

INSTALLATION




1. Install wiper motor to transmission assembly.
2. If wiper module bushings were replaced, install rubber grommet first, then steel bushing.




3. Install wiper motor to plenum area.
4. Install wiper motor retaining bolts.

Torque: 5 N.m (44 in-lbs)

5. Install electrical connector to wiper motor.




6. Install weatherstrip at the rear of hood.




7. Install grill.
8. Install grill nuts to base of wiper arm shaft.
9. Install wiper arm assemblies at mark made during removal or at Park position if a new wiper motor is installed.




10. Install wiper arm retaining washers and nuts.

Torque: 28 N.m (21 ft-lbs)

11. Install wiper arm finish caps.
12. Verify correct wiper system operation.
